In a forgotten interview, Mark Brandon ‘Chopper’ Read discusses how he served 23 years and 9 months and had he been diagnosed as a young, troubled adolescent with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD/ADD)- his life could have been totally different with the Victorian Police never having known who he was!
Since 1970, Health Department Regulators, Forensic Psychiatry and the Judiciary have ignorantly failed to keep up to date with international best practice. What proportion of incarcerated Australians, like Read, remain unscreened , undiagnosed and untreated to this day, and arguably should NOT be there!
